I have passed through the small Petrified Forest National Park a number of times but today it was raining in the high desert. Rain brings out the astonishing colors in the stone and mud. The purples in this shot are fairly accurate. The image was color balanced against a control shot with a Whibal (click here) card. The mud really is purple!
