Yellowstone’s Grand Geyser entertaining photographers near Old Faithful. There are far fewer winter Yellowstone visitors than summer visitors. Last season (spring, summer, and fall) about four million people visited Yellowstone. Less than one hundred thousand visit during the winter. Winter visitors break down into three basic groups: photographers, snowmobile riders, and Nordic skiers.
Boxing Day at Bogus Basin. The day after Christmas we drove up to Bogus Basin. Bogus Basin is about twenty kilometers north of Boise. It’s a popular nearby ski area. The snow and weather conditions were nearly perfect: blue skies, deep mountain powder, and ski cold.
We finally took a stroll on the Boise Greenbelt trail. The greenbelt trail follows the Boise River through the city and connects a number of parks, the university grounds, and the zoo. The Boise River appears to be a popular fishing river; I spotted eight guys in the water, or along the shore, trying their luck.
