The Berkeley Pit in Butte Montana. The pit is the remains of nearly thirty years of open pit copper mining. It’s partially filled with water and the water is highly acidic and loaded with dissolved metals. The pit is a superfund site and is widely considered a total environmental clusterfuck by greenies everywhere. Who would have thought a superfund site would be so picturesque? Perhaps the squalid remains of a globally warmed post-apocalyptic world will be a photographer’s delight.
