Mable Elvira Davis 1895-1953. Mabel was one of my great-grandmother Minnie's younger sisters. This portrait, made by Hazeltine’s Studio Butte Montana, is typical. For reasons, that remain utterly inexplicable to this day, studio photographers love to pose their subjects with irrelevant objects (the chair) in front of tacky patterned backgrounds. The original print is mounted on thick embossed cardboard and was made to last. Mabel died before I was born and I haven’t heard any stories about her. Mabel looks about thirteen so I am guessing this picture was taken in 1908.
