Minnie Raver
Read MoreAnother fine period portrait from my great-grandmother Minnie’s photos. The only marking on the print says, “Aunt Alta.” I would estimate the portrait was made in the early 1920s which would imply “Aunt Alta” was one of my grandmother’s aunts, probably by marriage, rather than one of my great-grandmother’s aunts. It’s frustrating to look at old family photographs and not be able to identify people. Always clearly label your prints! Someone in the future will appreciate your diligence.
P.S. A FamilySearch.org contact identified this person. Her name is Alta Mae Smelser 1914-2012. Alta had a long life. She was nearly ninety-eight when she died. Alta was a daughter of Callie Davis. Callie was a sister of my great-grandmother Minnie.
P.P.S My image date guess is wrong. She is around twenty. Hence this picture was shot in the early 1930s.
