Sharon, Alberta and Evelyn having popsicles beside Gert’s Nash. Gert is visible in the car. Alberta looks about nine or ten so this slide was probably taken around 1949. I have very few precise dates for these old slides. Some slide frames are stamped with the film development dates but apparently Kodak did not start timestamping slide frames until the 1960s. A few of Hazel’s old slides have handwritten dates but most do not. I constantly look for things that will help pin down dates. Things like license plates, calendars in the background, and distinctive car models. Usually, I come up empty and make a guess.
Evelyn, my mother as a teenager, holding baby Tommy. I have no idea who baby Tommy is but I am pleased with the restoration of this old slide of Hazel’s. I am generally dissatisfied with most of my restoration work but every now and then you come close to the image in your head.
My mother with a kitten on her back. This picture was taken in Yakima sometime in the late 1940s.
