control > The Vanderbilt Biltmore Estate in Asheville North Carolina; this is not a flattering view of the main building. The sun was setting and I wanted to view the well illuminated side.

Biltmore is like the Hearst castle: a gigantic look at how much money I have monument. Just like my visit to Hearst Biltmore did not impress. The entire structure is a massive ersatz French chateau imposed on the landscape. The most impressive feature: the massive castle walls it sits on. They really would have kept the torch wielding peasants at bay. Fortunately for the peasants U.S. estate laws are almost as larcenous as the original Vanderbilts. To keep Biltmore running their descendents have to truck bus loads of peons through the property to keep ahead of the property taxes.
control > Mali at Clingmans Dome. The view is to the east. The weather was dry and clear when we visited: perfect for late November.
control > A sculpture on the grounds of the Biltmore Estate reaches for the moon with the setting sun on its back.
control > Cherokee sculpture outside the Museum of the Cherokee Indian in Cherokee North Carolina.
control > The short 2.3 mile hike up the Alum Cave Bluffs trails ends under an eroded overhang. I coaxed Mali into the shot to scale the cliffs.
control > Over the long Thanksgiving weekend we visited the Great Smokey Mountains. This is the view south from the balcony of the bed and breakfast we stayed at.
control > Poor Santa. The old guy has to get out and flog Christmas many months before the actual holiday. Get a lawyer and sue for overtime!
control > We drove over to Ohio to shop at our favorite organic farm. These farm cats were lazing about in the sun. All cats are born with a gift for relaxation.
control > The one and only B52. The B52 dates back to the 1950s and some are still in service today (2009). The B52 has been described by its pilots, that are all younger than the planes they fly, as something over thirty you can trust.
